|  Roots empress Dezarie is an amazingly talented singer and songwriter from St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. She has blessed the reggae community with her incredible vocal skills and songwriting since her amazing debut album on I Grade Records in 2001, FYA. This album was acclaimed by reggae fans, DJs and reviewers across the world as a modern day classic, with one reviewer even stating that FYA “very well may be the best female reggae album of all time.”www.reggae-reviews.com Dezarie followed up this amazing release with 2003's massive release, Gracious Mama Africa on the Afrikan Roots Lab label. With this album, and with her recent tour across the west coast of the US - culminating in a performance at 2004's Sierra Nevada World Music Festival - Dezarie is quickly becoming known as one of the foremost female roots singers in the world. After receiving Atlanta's "Best New Female Reggae Artist" award in 2001, Dezarie returned to her native island of St. Croix.
